Product Description

This very unusual presentation case was made from salvaged oak, lovingly rescued from the locally historic Woodroffe House of Mechum Depot, Virginia. This historical old home suffered severe fire damage many years ago. The wood retains all of its original patina accentuated by strong evidence of charring and smoke permeation of the grains. It has been stained with natural stain, followed by multiple coats of lacquer.

This case features a hinged glass top which swings on brass hinges and secured by a brass snap-catch. The glass used in the top was salvaged from an old window pane.

The gorgeous PINE SWAMP GREEN, felt that lines the bottom was salvaged from damaged goods being discarded by a local crafts and sewing goods retailer. Pine Swamp green is sort of a sage green color with hints of blacks and blues, reminiscent of the mystical qualities found in a pine swamp. It is well suited for a Civil War display case, because the name alone is symbolic of the contributions and sacrifices made by the Pine Swamp District and Township of North Carolina during the Civil War.

The inside measurements of this great case are 9 3/4 inches long by 9 1/4 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches deep.

Thick felt pads have been placed on the underside for tabletop display.

This is truly a one-of-a-kind case and if you are looking for something authentic to the period, but really different, this is the case for you. Great for Civil War relics, Native American artifacts, or anything else you want to display with pride.
