Bullet Casket 618 ( SOLD)

Product Description
This particular presentation casket was made from old wood, lovingly rescued during recent salvage operations conducted at the locally historic "JOHNSON HOUSE" which was located on Route 250 West (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) just west of Crozet, Virginia. Along with more than 100 years of of exciting history, the building was razed on June 22, 2006, leaving behind only memories and some great old wood. We converted this wood into some great display cases which we like to think of as "recycled history."
In honor of this fine old building, we contracted Carbide Specialties, Inc to custom make a shaper cutter that was precision ground to replicate the exact bead found on some of the interior woodwork of the house. The bead on this case was cut with that very cutter.
We are not real sure what kind of wood it is, but we believe it is either butternut or chestnut. The wood's rich, warm, natural color is protected by multiple coats of clear lacquer.
Unlike most of the felt I use, this rich "GHOSTS of ANTIETAM" wool felt was custom ordered specifically for these cases, and is not salvaged material. The deep BLOOD-RED color with ghost-like hints of black SCREAMS CIVIL WAR.
