Product Description
Have you ever tried to find nice, affordable display cases to keep your prized Civil War bullets or small artifacts in? Well, look no further.
This Civil War Bullet Presentation Casket was made from old poplar flooring planks, rescued from an old home that was razed in the Shenandoah Valley - The Heartland of the Civil War! The wood is quite old, and although it has been resawn, it retains just enough of its original age-related patina and character to create a display case that will make you proud to display your most cherished keepsakes in. We like to think of our cases as "recycled history."
For color consistency, this casket has received a special warm walnut stain, followed by multiple coats of clear lacquer
During recent salvage operations conducted at another locally historic home in Albemarle County, the "JOHNSON HOUSE," we ran across a piece of unusual beaded trim, so we contracted Carbide Specialties, Inc. to custom make us a shaper cutter that would replicate the bead exactly . The bead on this casket was cut with that very cutter.
The gorgeous "Royal Maroon" felt that lines the bottom was salvaged from damaged goods being discarded by a local crafts and sewing goods retailer.
This case features a slide out acrylic top, compliments of the discard pile at a local hardware store.
Even the plywood bottom was plucked from the scrap pile.
Thick felt pads have even been placed on the underside for table top display.
So, while the wood may not be "perfect" and the salvaged acrylic may have a blemish or two, together they create the "perfect" display case, worthy of your prized Civil War relics and collectibles.
The inside dimensions of this unique presentation casket are 10 inches long by 2 inches wide and is 1 inch deep.
To remove the top, you simply slide the acrylic out.
These caskets are also ideal for displaying arrowheads and other Indian artifacts, buttons, coins, fossils, marbles, rocks & minerals, seashells, small relics, and tokens.
